Danielle Zacherl » Where Are They Now?

West Liberty University is proud of its graduates, and WLU-TV is extremely proud of the many students who have completed our program and gone on to do great things in the broadcasting and design fields. Below is a list of some of our graduates who are doing great things in their respective fields and are visions of how successful graduates of our program can become!

Danielle Zacherl graduated from West Liberty University in August of 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Communications with a Broadcasting concentration.  Danielle began her love for the business in the John Marshall High School broadcasting program.  She joined the WLU-TV crew in 2010 as a freshman at West Liberty University.

During her first semester, Danielle took over the position as producer and host of Inside West Liberty.  She was in charge of the show during her entire college career.  Danielle also had the opportunity to travel to China with a West Liberty Education trip.  She shot, wrote, and edited a travelogue style-documentary titled “Crossing Borders”.  “Crossing Borders” won runner up in the 2013 West Liberty MAD Festival for video.

During her time on the crew, Danielle worked every position behind and in front of the scenes.  She was the graphics operator for Hilltopper Sports for 2 years.  Zacherl attributes having the opportunity to learn every position in a control room or live truck is the key to success in this business.  “I owe everything to the program and crew at West Liberty,” said Danielle.  “It was more than education.  It was working in the field with a second family.  I had the time of my life on the WLU-TV crew.”

After graduation, Danielle accepted a job in Beckley, WV as a producer for WVNS-TV.  She produces the hour-long 10pm newscast that airs on Fox.  Zacherl loves this business and hopes to continue her career in the coming years through being a news reporter or being involved in the production side of Television.
