Lauren Weppler is an Executive Producer at WMBF News in Myrtle Beach. She began her career in front of the camera as a reporter/anchor, but recently decided to step behind the scenes of the news operations. This new role into management is allowing her to use her on camera experience since 2008 as an advantage in growing the station into the number one slot in the market. Weppler spent two years as the anchor of Weekend Today on WMBF News.
Before becoming a Myrtle Beach transplant, she found a home in Southern West Virginia at WVNS-TV in Beckley. There she anchored the evening shows and began a weekly series, Trading Places. Her first break into the businesses was at WTAP-TV in the Parkersburg West Virginia and Marietta Ohio market. She was a reporter/weather anchor. This early experience reaffirmed to Lauren the importance of being a self starter, having strong news judgement, and knowing the elements of a well told story.
A graduate from West Liberty University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Broadcast Media. Lauren anchored, reported and produced a student run shop known as WLTV. She also was the station manager at the college’s radio station WGLZ. It was here during her college career Lauren got an internship in Washington, D.C. to work under Bonnie Erbe the creator of the PBS show To The Contrary. This powerful experience cemented the need for Lauren to try and make a difference to viewers at home. Lauren considers herself to always be looking at the positive side of life and tries to find humor in everyday. When she isn’t working, she’s spending time with her family.
