West Scholarship Information and Application
General Information
The West Scholarship, made possible through the generosity of our benefactor, Gary E. West, is designed to assist qualified students who select a major in Business.
- West Scholars receive up to $2,500 annually in tuition credit, renewable each year for a maximum of four years under specified criteria.*
- Currently available only to students who are categorized as out-of-state or metro tuition rate who have applied for admission to West Liberty University. (In-state students who meet the criteria qualify for the WV Promise Scholarship and should apply at www.cfwv.com)
- The West Scholarship is provided by our donor specifically to assist students with payment of tuition in the year of the award. Individual tuition reimbursements from the West Scholarship Fund are supplemental to the total scholarship awards provided by the university, up to a maximum of $2,500 per academic year, and total awards cannot exceed the tuition charge.
- Applicants must declare a major in Business to be eligible.
- Open to both incoming freshmen and transfer students.
*This scholarship is grant-funded and will be evaluated for renewal annually as long as funds remain available and the student meets the renewal criteria described below.
West Scholar Requirements for Incoming Freshmen Students
Incoming freshmen applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completed application
- High school GPA of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale)
- ACT composite score of 22 or higher or SAT combined score of 1000 or higher
- A declared major in Business
West Scholar Requirements for Incoming Transfer Students
Incoming transfer student applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completed application
- College GPA of at least 3.25 (4.0 scale)
- Completed 12 credit hours at an accredited institution
- A declared major in Business
Renewal Eligibility Requirements
Once enrolled, West Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and remain a full-time business student (at least 12 hours per semester) to be considered for renewal. Students will be automatically considered for renewal and will be notified of their status by May 31 each renewal year.
