WCOB Recognized for Adopt-A-Highway Program

A stretch of highway leading to the WLU campus from points east is litter-free, thanks to the efforts of WCOB students and Professor Joseph Scarpaci.  Two cleanup days have been held since the West College of Business adopted the section of Pennsylvania Route 50.

The most recent effort, on Wednesday May 1, was conducted by Dr. Scarpaci and senior Marketing major Joe DiCarlo, who graduated on Saturday.  Adopt-A-Highway programs are found throughout the U.S. and in foreign countries and provide valuable volunteer assistance to help curb unsightly litter and to keep removal costs down.

Dean Loren Wenzel presents research award to Dr. Ho-Chang Chae

Computer Information Systems Professor Ho-Chang Chae received the Faculty Excellence in Research Award.  Chae’holds a Ph.D. in Business Computer Information Systems from the University of North Texas and has an upcoming article in MIS Quarterly.

Dr. Craig Crow receives teaching award from Dean Loren Wenzel

Management Instructor Craig Crow was presented with the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award.  Crow received his Ed.D. from West Virginia University and coordinates the WCOB Sport Management program.

Dr. John Aulerich, service award honoree, with Dean Loren Wenzel

Finance Professor John Aulerich earned the Faculty Excellence in Service Award.  Aulerich holds a Ph.D. in Finance with a Minor in Economics from Syracuse University, and is the faculty advisor for the student-run WLU Investment Club.

Ms. Brianne Poilek receives staff award from Dean Loren Wenzel

WCOB Advisor and Placement Coordinator Brianne Poilek was honored as the Outstanding Staff Member for 2013.  Poilek has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Vincent College.

Mr. John Bonassi is presented with alumni award by Dean Loren Wenzel

An Honorary Alumni Award was presented to John Bonassi, Senior Consultant and Adjunct Professor for the WCOB.  Bonassi has a Master’s degree from Duquesne University and teaches entrepreneurship and professional development classes, as well as leadership courses in the School of Professional Studies.  He provides recruiting consultation to the WCOB.
