The Gary E. West College of Business held its ninth annual Honors Banquet April 30, 2013, celebrating the accomplishments of fifteen top students from various disciplines. The event, held at the West Event Hall at Stratford Springs in Wheeling, welcomed students and their guests to a reception, dinner, and awards ceremony. Awards were presented by faculty members. Faculty and staff awards were also presented by Dean Loren Wenzel at the conclusion of the student festivities. The student honorees are pictured below. Outstanding Sports Management Student Award

Emily Shimp of Leroy, WV was named the OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTING STUDENT. This award recognizes the Senior Accounting Major who most effectively represents the attributes of professionalism, dedication and scholarship.
Jessica Wilkerson of Moundsville, WV is the recipient of the DR. ROBERT GODFREY ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP, which recognizes a Junior Accounting Major who demonstrated a high level of scholarship, dedication and professionalism.
Joshua Smith of Davis, WV was named the OUTSTANDING BANKING, FINANCE, AND ECONOMICS STUDENT. The award recognizes the outstanding Banking, Finance, and Economics Major who exemplifies academic achievement in the Program by demonstrating dedication, professionalism and academic scholarship.
Justin Gregorcic was presented with the COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, which recognizes excellence in academics and professional potential in Data Processing.
Heidi Hamrick of Elkins, WV was named the OUTSTANDING GENERAL BUSINESS STUDENT. The award recognizes the Senior General Business Major who exemplifies academic achievement in the General Business Program by demonstrating a high level of dedication, professionalism and academic scholarship.
Andrew Henry of Wheeling, WV received the OUTSTANDING HEALTH SERVICES MANAGEMENT STUDENT AWARD, recognizing the Senior Health Services Management Major who exemplifies academic achievement in the Health Services Management Program with dedication and professionalism. Management major
Jeshua Irazabal of Cuevnavaca, Mexico was presented with the OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARD, which recognizes the accomplishments of an international student in Business and in appreciation of the faculty and staff in the Gary E. West College of Business.
Chase Bonnette of Warwood, WV received the OUTSTANDING MANAGEMENT STUDENT AWARD. This award recognizes the graduating Management student who best exemplifies the principles of scholarship, service and behavioral management science within the Gary E. West College of Business.
Kyle Knox of Wheeling, WV was named the OUTSTANDING MARKETING STUDENT. The award is presented to the Senior Marketing Major who has demonstrated exemplary performance in the Marketing Program through a high level of scholarship, dedication and professionalism.
Anne Edwards of Dover, OH was presented with the OUTSTANDING SPORTS MANAGEMENT STUDENT AWARD, recognizing the Senior Sports Management Major who exemplifies academic achievement in the Sports Management Program with dedication and professionalism.
Elizabeth Hughes of Summersville, WV is the recipient of the PETER SONTAG SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD, which recognizes a Tourism and Event Management student who displays the most intense, resourceful and innovative customer orientation.
Sara Funkhouser, a Management major from Wheeling, WV and Chelsie Orlofske, an Accounting major from Bellaire, OH received the KENNETH P. WRIGHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, which recognizes students majoring in Business Administration who demonstrate academic promise.
Finance major David Blakney of West Liberty, WV and Management major Lance Johnson of Wellsburg, WV were presented with the GARY E. WEST COLLEGE OF BUSINESS 3-D FACULTY/STAFF SCHOLARSHIP, which recognizes business students who exemplify dedication, diligence, and determination. This scholarship is funded by faculty and staff members who participate in the college’s “dress-down” days.
