WLU basketball returns to hilltop after break

West Liberty University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams returned to the hilltop Saturday, Jan. 6, for their first home games of the year. Both squads pulled out a win, as our men’s team continues their perfect season and our Lady Toppers improve to 5-9.

Hilltoppers remain undefeated after late game scare

The West Liberty University men’s basketball avoided their first loss of the season after escaping a late comeback by the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State. Our Hilltoppers pulled out a 106-100 victory, still preserving their perfect season on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the ASRC.

Interfaith Chapel celebrates 50 years on the hilltop

The Interfaith Chapel is an integral part of the West Liberty University community, and will be celebrating 50 years this December. Faculty and students came together last Wednesday, Nov. 29, to commemorate the rich history of the Interfaith Chapel.

Women’s basketball set to host Notre Dame College

Notre Dame (Ohio) will travel to the hilltop this Saturday to matchup against our Lady Toppers. For West Liberty, this hasn’t been the start that newly hired head coach, Kyle Cooper, was hoping for. WLU will look to get back on track and win against one of the top teams in the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

No. 21 for the Black and Gold, Jeremiah Ortiz, made West Liberty history last night by becoming only the ninth Hilltopper in school history to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a single season. However, Ortiz’ record-setting performance wasn’t enough to prevail the Hilltoppers over Fairmont State.

The Lady Hilltoppers will see a notable change to its bench this upcoming season as Hall of Fame coach, Lynn Ullom, decided to step down as head coach after 26 seasons. West Liberty University men’s golf team finished runners-up in the Mountain East Conference Championship Tournament last week. Senior Mike Rogers finished first in the individual races, winning his second medal title of his college career.
