Student art sale to help fund scholarships

Today, on Thursday, Nov. 9, West Liberty art students will be selling screen-printed t-shirts, totes, and backpacks in the College Union. The event will take place from noon until 2 p.m. and all the money collected will benefit The Robert Villamagna Jr. Scholarship and Student Art Exchange Fund.

International competition reaches the hilltop

The 48-Hour Film Fest took place from Sept. 15 to Sept 17. Participants met on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. to draw a genre, a prop, a character and a line of dialogue for their group.

Graduate assistant program allows for professional growth

West Liberty University’s Graduate Assistant (GA) Program has seen an increase in enrollment this year. Graduate students get the opportunity to earn their degree with an additional real-world experience in their field of study here on the hilltop. The GA program became more established in Fall 2016 with developed, organized programs available to students. 

Student succeeds despite rare heart condition

Most take for granted that blood-pumping organ that beats 100,000 times a day in your chest. Evan Greco knows all too well the true value of the heart. He’s living with a rare heart defect, but just as he did in his high school marching band’s drumline, Evan doesn’t miss a beat.

WLU Honors Convocation acknowledges student achievement

Yesterday evening, on behalf of West Liberty University, faculty and department heads gathered in Kelly Theater in the Fine Arts Building to hold the annual Honors Convocation to recognize students who have shown outstanding academic achievement. The evening began with opening remarks from Vice President of Student Services Scott Cook and WLU President Dr. Stephen Greiner. Soon after, the awards began to be distributed.

WLU College of Business holds Honors Banquet

Members of the Gary E. West College of Business held their honors banquet this evening in the ASRC’s Boyle Room. Faculty, friends, and family gathered to recognize and celebrate the achievements of several students before many of them graduate on May 13.

West Liberty students create album with local artists

Recently, West Liberty University students and artists have come together to record an all original album  called “Moving On.” The album features multiple artists from the West Liberty and Wheeling area. Those involved in recording the album were Daniel Evick, Ian Beabout, Derik Board, Kaydon Hardman, Rachel Krems, Shane Powell, and another local group, The Kingsman. 

Senior show is a success in Nutting Gallery

Each semester, graduating seniors at West Liberty University participate in the show in order to complete their degree in Graphic Design or Art Education. This semester, five artists are featured in the exhibit: Jenny Ball, Jessica Bethel, Alyssa Culp, Emily Jessee and Courtney Moore. The highly anticipated and successful Senior Exhibition is on display now through May 11 in the Nutting Gallery in the Fine Arts Building.
