Student art sale to help fund scholarships

Today, on Thursday, Nov. 9, West Liberty art students will be selling screen-printed t-shirts, totes, and backpacks in the College Union. The event will take place from noon until 2 p.m. and all the money collected will benefit The Robert Villamagna Jr. Scholarship and Student Art Exchange Fund.

Are you a music major who plays a bass instrument? Or are you a rising senior studying dental hygiene? There are various scholarships available for multiple majors. You might be eligible for additional scholarships from West Liberty University Foundation. 

WLU College of Business holds Honors Banquet

Members of the Gary E. West College of Business held their honors banquet this evening in the ASRC’s Boyle Room. Faculty, friends, and family gathered to recognize and celebrate the achievements of several students before many of them graduate on May 13.

WLU Foundation receives third-largest estate gift

The West Liberty Foundation has accepted an estate gift of over $800,000 from former professor Dr. Lawerence H. Talley’s estate. 

The estate gift will fund four-year, full-ride scholarships for incoming College of Sciences freshmen students majoring in either chemistry or biology. 

Foundation offers many scholarships unknown to students

The cost of a college education is nothing to take lightly. With the cost of tuition, room and board, meal plans, and books and supplies, the price of a four-year education can be quite costly; however, it does not always have to be. 

Beth Salatino Memorial Scholarship Established

A scholarship fund has been established in the West Liberty University Foundation in memory of the university’s beloved colleague, Beth (Baker) Salatino who passed away suddenly on the night of Nov. 3rd. Beth Salatino held the position of financial aid counselor, was an employee of WLU for about 25 years, and was married to alumnus and employee Anthony Salatino.

“She was an Ohio Valley native and life long resident. She grew up in Wheeling and graduated from Wheeling Park High School in 1984 and attended West Liberty right after graduation. She graduated from West Liberty in May of 1988,” said Scott Cook, Vice president of Student Services/Registrar.
