Our Lady Toppers begin post-season play today against the No. 3 seed, Shepherd University. After trading wins in the regular-season, both teams will look to secure a victory tonight to keep their hopes alive in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship race.

Women’s tennis finishes third at conference tournament

West Liberty University’s women’s tennis team ended their season this past weekend after falling short to University of Charleston in the Mountain East Conference Tournament. This year, the tournament was held at the Marshall University Tennis Complex in Huntington, W.Va.

The West Liberty women’s volleyball team will be closing at-home play in the 2017 regular season this weekend, with games against Fairmont State and Shepherd. Both of those teams sit towards the top of the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

Senior volleyballer hopes to finish season off strong

Three years ago, heading into the 2014-15 season, head coach Kayla Mull of the Lady Hilltoppers volleyball program knew she needed a solid recruiting class if they wanted to compete in the Mountain East Conference. Traits like experience, height, quickness, jumping and mental toughness are characteristics Mull and every volleyball coach looks for. For the Hilltoppers, however, intelligence is at the forefront as well. One player in that recruiting class fits into all those categories: Erin Jans. 

Senior volleyballer looks to wrap up the season on a high note

Middle blocker Sydney Scherer is playing her last season here on the hilltop. Scherer earned 2016 First-Team All-MEC middle blocker and 2014 MEC All-Freshman Team. As of Oct. 4, she is third in the NCAA Division II in Active Career blocks with 455. Her goal for her last season on the hilltop is to win conference.
