‘Awesome Project’ returns to fund campus proposals

Students in the Community Education program’s Fundraising and Grant Writing course are holding another “awesome” contest where individuals or groups can apply for a $1,000 mini-grant to fund a project that will benefit the West Liberty University campus community. 

Global initiative promotes physical activity at WLU

West Liberty University became a part of the global initiative Exercise is Medicine this January. According to 
exerciseismedicine.org, “Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) is a program calling upon universities and colleges to engage in the promotion of physical activity as a vital sign of health.”

WLU Honors Convocation acknowledges student achievement

Yesterday evening, on behalf of West Liberty University, faculty and department heads gathered in Kelly Theater in the Fine Arts Building to hold the annual Honors Convocation to recognize students who have shown outstanding academic achievement. The evening began with opening remarks from Vice President of Student Services Scott Cook and WLU President Dr. Stephen Greiner. Soon after, the awards began to be distributed.

Camden steps down, continues ‘being an advocate’

After eight years of service in West Liberty University’s College of Education (COE), Dr. Keely Camden will be resigning as the dean to continue her ever-aspiring journey as an advocate for education. She recently accepted a faculty chair position at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, where she will spend more time in the classroom doing what she loves. 

New education major offers global opportunities

West Liberty University offers students a variety of opportunities and programs, and a new major was recently added to the College of Education. It is called “Teaching English and Global Education,” and it is now one of the seven majors offered within the Community Education Program. The major is offered in cooperation between the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts.
