West Liberty’s Fall 2017 Commencement Ceremony will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9 in the ASRC. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and tickets are not required to enter. A reception will follow commencement in the College Union immediately after.

Students from graduate and undergraduate studies both will be honored at the ceremony, as well as students who finished graduate requirements from this past summer will also be participating in the December ceremony.

The speaker for commencement will be Patrick Ford. He is from Hutchinson, Kan.

“I am thrilled that Mr. Ford has agreed to be the commencement speaker,” said President Dr. Stephen Greiner. “He is an outstanding Executive Director of the Business Development Corporation (BDC) of the Northern Panhandle and member of the West Liberty University Board of Governors. Along with his BDC executive board, they are creating a new and much needed business and industry economy in this region. I look forward to his inspirational message.”

Greiner will conduct the ceremony and present an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to Ford.

“As SGA President, it’s always my job to work with our amazing executive board and senate to make the experience for our student body the best it can be up here on the hilltop,” said SGA President Adam Croasmun, “As our Fall 2017 graduates now prepare to go out into the world, my best advice for them would be: stay true to yourself, keep working hard like you have during your time here at West Liberty University, and continue making positive change in the world. We have such a diverse group of students with various majors ready to impact the universe. So, I wish them all the best of luck and I want them to know there will always be a place for them on this hill as alumni and we thank them for choosing this superb institution. As I usually say: once a Hilltopper, always a Hilltopper! May God bless them all in their future endeavors!”

“I am so proud of our West Liberty University graduates and excited to celebrate their accomplishments at commencement,” said Greiner. “My advice is to optimize your potential as a West Liberty University graduate. Your best days are ahead, and your potential is a great gift that you give to yourself, your family, and your community. Use
it wisely and unselfishly, and it will expand your personal and professional happiness.”
