Graphic Design rebranded as Visual Communication Design

The Graphic Design major has a brand new name. Instead of Graphic Design, it will now be known as Visual Communication Design.

Fall Festival kicks off this weekend in West Liberty

The annual Fall Festival will take place on Sept. 30 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Hall, located on Van Meter Way. Fall Festival is an annual event in West Liberty for a day of fun for all ages.

West Liberty women’s tennis season off to a hot start

West Liberty University’s women’s tennis have kicked off their season strong. The team had previously won 8-1 and 9-0 against Grove City College and Shepherds University respectively, and swept their third consecutive match after defeating Notre Dame College this past Saturday at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.

Hilltoppers come up just short against Notre Dame

The West Liberty football team lost in a hard fought 24-19 battle against the Notre Dame Fighting Falcons tonight at West Family Stadium. With this loss, the Hilltoppers fall to 2-3 on the season and the Falcons improve to 4-1.

Greek Life preps for upcoming semester, new recruits

With recruitment season over, fraternities and sororities will now shift their focus to the initiation process of joining a Greek life organization. During the next several weeks, new members will get a closer glimpse of what it is like to be a part of that respective Greek life organization. 

Toppers seek win against streaking Falcons

After a tough loss against the University of Virginia Wise last weekend, the West Liberty Hilltoppers are hoping to find a solid rhythm as they head into the middle of their season. After starting the season 2-2, the Toppers have struggled to maintain momentum toward a win streak. They hope to begin that streak tonight on the hilltop. 

WLU opens development offices in downtown Wheeling

The city of Wheeling now has a small piece of West Liberty in their atmosphere. The West Liberty University Foundation is leasing office spaces located at 1100 Main Street, otherwise known as the former Horne’s building, as multi-purpose units. These offices will be used as easy access for outside business meetings with West Liberty University.

WLU opens lactation room on College Union’s top floor

Upstairs in the College Union, a space is now available for students, faculty and staff who are nursing with the new lactation room in room S3. Plans for this space have been in the making for a while, but it’s now finally ready to be utilized.

Personal training program succeeds on the hilltop

West Liberty University’s personal training program is back in action after a successful first year. The program was introduced last fall semester and it instantly became popular among students. Personal training offers students a chance to have someone to workout with who can guide them through the correct exercise process.

Staff and students combating ‘suitcase campus’

Here at West Liberty University, there is occasional complications on finding activities that will make students want to stay over the weekend instead of commuting back home, ultimately leaving the hilltop a ghost town for the most part. However, staff members are implementing new ideas to improve on campus involvement.
