Local family seeks help through bake sale

On Wednesday, April 6, there will be a bake sale in the student union to raise money for a local family seeking adoption.

Sarah and Preston Smith are mentors of college students at the Covenant Community Church located in Wheeling, W.Va. They have two children, Caleb who was born March 2014, and Evelyn who was born Dec. 2015. Unfortunately, Evelyn passed away 20 days after she was born due to severe brain damage during Sarah’s pregnancy. They were completely unaware of her injuries until the day she was born.

Bestselling Author Visits WLU for Hughes Lecture Series

West Liberty University’s Hughes Lecture Series will be presenting the New York Times bestselling author Charlie Lovett for several events on Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7.

Lovett is a writer, teacher, and playwright, and his bestselling works include his first novel, The Bookman’s Tale, and recent book, The Further Adventures of Ebenezer Scrooge. He started as an antiquarian bookseller and collects books and other materials related to Lewis Carroll, author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, about whom he has written five books, has spoken at international events, and has curated major exhibitions.
