Lady Hilltoppers Dominate the Moutain Lions and Cavaliers

Today the West Liberty University Women’s Tennis Team hosted the Concord University Mountain Lions and the University of Virginia’s College at Wise Cavaliers in back-to-back matches at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.

The hilltoppers entered today’s match ups after a 9-0 sweep over Grove City College at the beginning of the season along with an 8-1 win over Shepherd. The Lady Hilltoppers lost on the road at Queens College of New York in the early season.

The Lady Hilltoppers faced the Concord University Mountain Lions at 11 a.m. with the team as a whole defeating the Mountain Lions with a 9-0 victory. At the singles level, the Lady Hilltoppers dominated.

Knocking Down Notre Dame!

West Liberty’s Women’s Volleyball Team had a tense game against Notre Dame, with two wins on each side, the game ended at a close 15-12 with West Liberty pulling off a last win.

The game continueback and forth as after West Liberty won the first set 25-20, Notre Dame immediately turned it around in the second with a score of 25 to West Liberty’s 18. West Liberty was quick to turn the game back in favor for the third set with a score of 25-19, but Notre Dame did the same in the fourth set, and despite hard efforts from West Liberty, they managed to pull a reversal of the first set and win 20-25. This lead to the last tie breaker set, which was the closet of them all at 15-12.

Hilltopper Volleyball Pummels Urbana 3-1 to win their 4th Straight Match

Despite falling 25-16 to Urbana in the first set Friday night, the WLU volleyball girls came back to sweep the next three sets and ultimately win the MEC match against the Blue Knights.

A supportive crowd cheered the Hilltoppers to 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18 point wins in sets two, three and four against Urbana. “The games were all really close right until the very end,” recalled senior Public Relations major Kira Brown, “which made it all the more exciting to get to watch.”
