The West Liberty Football Team Snapped A Two Game Losing Streak As They Defeated The Fairmont State Falcons 39-16 On Homecoming Day.

The Hilltoppers Came Out The Gate Early As Isiah Moody Ran For 48 Yard Run On A Fourth Down Play One The Opening Drive, That Set Up A Three Yard Touchdown Run By Dakota Conwell To Make The Score 7-0.

Still In The First Quarter, After A Josh White Interception Conwell Connected With Dylan Potts For Two Touchdowns To Make The Score 21- 0 At The End Of The First Quarter. In The Second Quarter, After A Punt By Griffin Yocum Downed At The One Yard Line, The Hilltopper Defense Came Up Big As Marco Ricchetti Tackled The Fairmont Running Back For A Safety To Make The Score 23-0.

With 4:12 Left In The Half, Conwell Connected With Anton Mccallum For An 85 Yard Touchdown Pass To Go Up 30-0. The 85-Yard Pass Was West Liberty’s Longest Play From Scrimmage Since Zach Amedro’s School-Record 88-Yard Touchdown Pass To Willie Walker At Glenville State On Oct. 3, 2009. Conwell Finished The Game With 13 Of 19 Completions For 252 Yards And Three Touchdowns And One Rushing Touchdown.

Fairmont State And West Liberty Traded Field Goals To Make It 33-3. Fairmont State Would Score Two Touchdowns To Make It 33-16. Late In The Fourth The Hilltoppers Would Cap The Scoring As Rj Thomas Ran It In From Two Yards To Make The Score 39-13.

It Was A Nice Day At West Family Stadium For Homecoming. It Was Packed For Tailgating, And The Activities Were Very Entertaining. West Family Stadium Was Also Dedicated At Halftime With The West Family Being Honored At Midfield With President Capehart.

The Trumpet Staff Would Like To Congratulate Jillian Laslo And Stewart Lane For Becoming This Yearʼs Homecoming Queen And King. West Liberty Will Now Travel To Urbana To Face The Blue Knights In A Mec Matchup. The Hilltoppers Next Game At West Family Stadium Will Be On Oct. 23.
