February 23, 2013 — On Saturday, February 23, the West Liberty University Physical and Health Education Majors’ Club participated in the American Cancer Society’s national event “Coaches vs. Cancer.”  According to the American Cancer Society, “The Coaches vs. Cancer program empowers coaches, their teams, and communities to join the fight against cancer by participating in awareness efforts, advocacy programs, and fundraising activities.”  This event took place at West Liberty University’s Academic, Sports, & Recreation Center during the men’s and women’s basketball games against Wheeling Jesuit University.  The Lady ‘Toppers wore pink uniforms to bring awareness to the event while the women’s coaches wore sneakers with their suits.  The West Liberty men basketball coaches wore pink ties with their suits to encourage fans to donate for the cause.  During the game, pink wristbands were also sold to benefit the cause.  On behalf of the Physical and Health Education Majors’, they would like to thank everyone for their donations! West Liberty University was able to raise over $300.00 for the American Cancer Society!
