WEST LIBERTY, W.Va, Nov. 14, 2016 — West Liberty University alumnus and former Alumni Relations Director Larry Williams joined President Emeritus Dr. John McCullough at the Highlands Center campus recently in honor of the installation of a photo and plaque marking the founding of the Highlands Center in 2009.
The photo and plaque were installed in the lobby area of the Highlands Center and now greet students, staff and guests on entering. The plaque describes the administrators’ role:
Laurence P. Williams and Dr. John P. McCullough are known as the Founding Fathers of the Highlands Center of West Liberty University. For more than 30 years, Williams, (first Director of Extended Education and former Alumni Relations Director) and McCullough (Emeritus President, three-time Interim President, former Provost and Business School Dean) worked to bring to fruition their dream of a permanent, quality, satellite campus facility. The Highlands Center is the culmination of their efforts and dream.
The Highlands Center continues to be a vibrant part of WLU’s campus outreach and is the home of its School of Professional Studies, under the direction of Dean Dr. Thomas Michaud. It offers a variety of degrees to working adults, including the Regents Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Administration. It also offers the Master’s of Professional Studies and the Master of Arts in Education, for those seeking advanced degrees.
Other staff at the Highlands include Sara Sweeney, Highlands Center manager and coordinator of graduate studies; Savannah Moore, administrative secretary; Dr. Leann Elkins, MAEd program coordinator and Mary Lou Conley, program assistant.
