West Liberty University houses several special collections. Two of the more notable are the Henry Lash Sheet Music collection and the Nelle Krise Rare Book collection. In an effort to preserve these artifacts, the library is currently digitizing the Henry Lash collection. The library will soon be uploading these digitizations to Flickr for the community to enjoy.
If a patron would like to see the collection in person, arrangements can be made. The Krise Rare Book room houses books that are hundreds of years old. Impressively, there is a Babylonian clay tablet that is over 4,000 years old, written in the ancient style of Cuneiform. The collections also houses a sub-collection of Arthur Rackham illustrated children’s books from the golden age of children’s literature. Please feel free to contact the reference desk to schedule an appointment to see these rare treasures up close.
