Students are required as a part of the SPA curriculum to complete several courses in the clinical setting. Three courses are concerned with clinical observations of speech and hearing within a school setting or healthcare setting. Students are responsible for locating a clinical placement of their choice in both the clinical and school environments where they will receive a total of 45 observation hours per each course.
Two elective courses are also provided and highly recommended to each student which allows them to obtain specific therapy contact hours under direct supervision within a hospital and school setting of the professor’s choosing. The student not only will observe but will work hands-on with patients to better prepare them for graduate work and their occupations. Thirty hours of therapy contact per each course will be provided with a variety of cases in the health care or school environments. Certified and licensed Speech Pathologists and Audiologists will provide supervision.
