Highlights of SPA Program

  • All SPA faculty hold a current West Virginia license for Speech Pathology or Audiology and are within good standing of the WV Board of Examiners.
  • All SPA faculty currently hold their Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • All SPA faculty currently work in a wide variety of outside clinical settings where they maintain their clinical experience helping patients and students directly. They are experienced in speech pathology/audiology, communication disorders, hearing impaired education, sign language/professional interpreters of the deaf, and special education for patients of all ages.
  • Small classes, excellent student to faculty ratios (usually 15 or fewer students to 1 faculty)
  • Adequate computer access with virtual audiometry, anatomy, and assessment protocols
  • Newer state of the art equipment and anatomy models
  • National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association chapter where the student invest their time in learning more about the profession, continuing education, networking, and community service activities
