  • Men’s Lacrosse becomes newly offered club sport in 2012
  • Women’s Soccer becomes newly offered intercollegiate sport in 2011
  • Transfer Orientation Program helps prospective and incoming transfer students with credit transfer, financial aid and other campus services
  • Summer Pantry provides donated food and household items for students who stay on or near campus in the summer
  • Midnight Breakfast is offered the first night of finals week. Employees serve all students a free breakfast at midnight to enhance the student experience.

Promote innovation, creativity and scholarly activity

  • Institute for Innovation in Education—In October 2011, West Liberty University launched the Institute for Innovation in Education. The purpose of the Institute is to develop innovative learning programs for implementation by the various colleges, schools and departments on campus. In just more than six months, the Institute has developed and implemented plans that have produced:

    - Advanced Academy of West Virginia—A dual enrollment program for high-achieving and motivated high school juniors and seniors. The program begins in the fall of 2012
    – West Liberty University Honors College—A program for high-achieving students will feature challenging classes and learning opportunities such as overseas travel
    – University Learning Center will provide the chance to improve basic skills and is important for underprepared WLU students in fundamentals. (Operated through the Honors College)
    – Community University is a series of noncredit courses designed for members of the community ages 55 and over who desire to pursue a lifetime learning experience
    – Public Policy Quarterly is an online and print refereed journal focused on public policy issues including public K-12 and higher education.

  • Increase funding for professional development from $15,000 to $125,000—An 833% increase
  • S.U.R.E. Program promotes student-based research in the College of Sciences
