Study Abroad Scholarships Currently Available:
- Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (Pell grant recipients only). The Gilman Scholarship Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is open to U.S. undergraduate students who demonstrate high financial need. The Gilman program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and awards scholarships up to $5,000 for study abroad at non-traditional destinations outside of Western Europe and Australia.Since 2008, 29 students from West Virginia have studied abroad as Gilman Scholars in 16 countries, including students from Concord University, Fairmont State University, Shepherd University, Marshall University and West Virginia University. - The Whitaker International Undergraduate Scholarship Program provides funding to increase the number of undergraduates in Biomedical Engineering who go abroad. Grants are for a one academic term or an academic year and range from $7,500 to $10,000. No summer grants are available. Grantees may carry out their study abroad programs in any country outside of the U.S., except Canada. Application is now open for the Fall/Academic year cycle.
