Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Mission

West Liberty University’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’s mission, in alignment with the University’s mission, is to provide a nurturing environment of diversity, inclusion, and equity in our community where everyone is respected, valued, included, treated fairly, and welcomed—regardless of one’s race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and/or socioeconomic status. The Campus & Community Diversity Committee’s commitment to diversity is steered by our core values of opportunity, caring, professionalism, integrity, excellence, and civic engagement.

Vision

West Liberty University envisions to evolve into a premier model for an inclusive educational and cultural experience through workshops, activities, training, development, and celebration of a diverse student, faculty, and staff population and workforce.

As the oldest public college in the state of West Virginia — a state that was born during the Civil War — we are united in support of unity and justice for all. Racism has no place on our campus or in our country at any time, and WLU remains committed to supporting justice and racial equality, as it provides a quality education to all.

West Liberty University is committed to serving its diverse student population. Together we are stronger!
