Dustin Heavilin, a 2003 communication graduate, visited campus on March 28 to speak with students about his recent successes as a moviemaker. Dustin’s script for Ronnie Hoffman: Limo Driver was acquired by Seacoast Entertainment Arts, a Canadian-based distribution and production company.
Dustin visited Jasmine Garcia’s Writing for Radio and TV class to speak with her students about what it takes to create a solid, marketable script. He guided the class through a brainstorming session, creating a mock script outline, while detailing each step of the process. At the end of class, students were given time to ask questions and screen a portion of the film.
Ronnie Hoffman: Limo Driver is currently in pre-production with 35 weeks of filming scheduled for the spring and summer months. Seacoast Entertainment Arts has allotted five million dollars for the film.
Shooting will take place in Nova Scotia. Currently, Canada is offering a 60% tax incentive for the film and television industry. Look for more major motion pictures to be shot in the Canadian provinces.
