Located in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia between southwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, West Liberty is a forward thinking institution dedicated to providing a wellrounded, educationally diverse, liberal arts focused learning experience. Founded in 1837 as West Liberty Academy, the college strives to create graduates who become viable contributors in their communities, with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet and exceed future challenges.
The college recognizes the significance one’s environment plays in the complete development of the student. Therefore, class sizes range from approximately six to 25 students, depending upon the course of study. At West Liberty, the attention is always on the student — with roughly one faculty member to 19 students on average.
Intercollegiate Athletics West Liberty is a member of the NCAA and WVIAC and offers a wide range of intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division II level, including men’s football, cross country, basketball, wrestling, track, tennis, baseball and golf; women’s softball, volleyball, cross country, basketball, track, tennis, and golf.
West Liberty offers a variety of coursework and majors through its School of Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, School of Business Administration, and School of Education. Students at West Liberty are awarded either a bachelor of arts degree or a bachelor of science degree. West Liberty is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and has more than 30 programs within the four schools that are either nationally accredited or meet the standards of national academic/professional organizations.
